Bheema (Tamil)
February 5, 2008
Nearly 4 years since the last vikram-trisha starrer saamy hit the screens comes the much delayed(2yrs in the making)much awaited film “bheema”with boundless blows, bullets and bloodshed. This is vikram’s first release after the lukewarm response to his last film “majaa”in 2005.For someone like me who has seen vikram’s work since sethu I definitely expected a much better film from the trio linguswamy-vikram-harris jeyraj.A volley of gunfires, bullets and the ease with which the hero moves on without getting hurt and never ending songs forms the out and out action flick “Bheema”.
story:no story, mindless action, unbelievable stunts, the story is about gangwars, rivalry between 2 underworld dons chinna[prakash raj] and periyar[raghuvaran, what is he even doing in the movie?].
Sekar[vikram] who has always admired and tried to emulate chinna since childhood joins as his henchman.Scenes between prakash raj and vikram does remind u of maniratnam’s dalapathy.sekar helps chinna overpower periyar and catapults him to a top position. This form s the story before the intermission.
post interval enters the new commissioner[ashish vidyarthi] who is hell bent upon “cleaning up the city”.where is the story heading??
performance wise vikram is top class[definitely will appeal to the front benchers,is he trying to tread the same path as vijay to woo the audience in the b and centres?]trisha looks stunning in the songs but has very less to do.prakash raj is good.raghuvaran is totally wasted.ashish vidyarthi is passable.
with the exception of 2 songs ragasiya kanavugal and mudhal mazhai the music is forgettable.
Director linguswamy who made films like run , ji and sandaikozhi chooses this not so non conventional theme on the lives of the underworld dons which lacks punch and fails to strike a chord with the audience. The movie is strictly a one time watch.

i found the whole movie filled with excessive and unwanted fighting with the usual indian make believe style of heroism fighting. trisha is just there because there needs to be a lady love for our hunk protagonist.overall even though the theme of the movie is good, the director should have projected it in a better way
